This small tray/plinth has a beautiful tactile sawn textured surface. This piece is a deep matt black with beautiful medullary rays.

We use the Japanese technique of shou sugi ban to burn the oak - this process brings out the grain and highlights any beautiful knots, cracks & imperfections and gives the oak its charred matt black look.

Designed with a slight elevation, so that the tray can be easily lifted. Perfect for serving or displaying small tea bowls & yunomi, for serving small food bites like sushi, or simply to display treasured objects like small crystals etc.

Finished with a food-safe eco hard wax oil that leaves the oak protected and with a natural matt finish.
